We are proud to be associated with
New Futures Nepal.
New Futures Nepal is a UK registered charitable trust. It was established
in 2002 by a group of like-minded people who, having spent time trekking
in Nepal, wanted to give something back to the people of that country.
Disabled and orphaned children live a harsh life in this desperately
poor country (one of the top 10 poorest countries in the world).
Without regular financial support and assistance they are often reduced
to begging on the streets, living rough and are prey to unscrupulous
traffickers and drug barons.
The
charity obtained UK registered charity status in July 2003 and
is numbered 1142984. They are a non-governmental, non-political and
non-religious organisation. The charity is engaged in raising funds
to provide assistance and relief and to support cases of need, hardship
and distress for Nepali children and adults worldwide.
The charity is the main providers of financial support to two
homes
for disabled and orphaned children and adults; one in Kathmandu,
Nepal and one in Kalimpong, Northern India. In these homes they
care
for 32 resident children, 2 disabled adults and provide salaries
for 7 carers. They also support one-off projects providing shelter
for street children and aid for community projects throughout the
Himalayan region.

£45,603
Raised on the 2011 Charity Trek!
Having recently returned from Nepal
our MD, Adrian Burge, has reported back on the highs and lows of
his fundraising trek.
"I can report
that after a rather exhausting 7 day trek in the Everest region
where altitude, terrain and lack of general fitness all took its
toll the Trek party will have raised approximately £30k for
New Futures Nepal.
Our 20 person party toiled through blazing sunshine,
sub zero temperatures and a blizzard during our 7 day Himalayan
experience, but through it all great comradeship kept us all smiling.
Altitude and the
lack of oxygen after 3200m was a big surprise to me which made
the simplest of tasks more demanding
yet alone climbing a mountain.
We topped out our climb at approx 4000 meters
with views of Everest and the surrounding mountains which was absolutely
breathtaking, an experience I shall treasure forever.
We all spent a day at
the Hope Centre, our orphanage in Kathmandu on our return from
Trek which for me was again the highlight of the trip, it’s
what it’s all for and the children
and adults had a special day playing and socializing. According
to our orphanage manager Tilak the children had been excited
about it for weeks.
Generally all the children are in good health
and doing well.
May I take this opportunity to thank anyone who donated to the
cause and all my trekking
colleagues for their efforts".
Office Problems Solved has pledged to continue
support for the charity on a yearly basis.
